Are You Schedule Blocking?

As we're working through the small spaces of our home, setting up a schedule to continue the progress can really help BUT how do you do that?
Do you block schedule? Work by the hour? Try multi-tasking and stacking? I'm sorry to say it's 'yes and no' to all the above and more. A lot of scheduling will come down to what's going to work for you and when. We're all in different spaces and seasons of life so what works for me may seem impossible for you and vice versa.
When it comes to scheduling, blocking is exactly how it sounds, blocking out time. This is perfect for applying the steps of the 3S Method. A 15-minute block of time to simplify. Another 15-minute block of time to sort. And scheduled throughout the year you'll have 15-minute blocks of time to check-in and sustain spaces.
Blocking can also come in handy for bigger projects and macro sorting/zoning an entire area. Let's say you're re-working the garage- You moved in and too many things just kind of landed where-ever. Or things have moved their way out of the house and fell into the garage. Whatever that may be- you've committed to 'Getting the Garage Organized!' (darn it!) and since the weather is nice, you're going to dedicate a big block of time to that space. You've blocked out 4 hours to get it better than it is currently. This is the time you want to maximize the blocked schedule you have and start zoning like with like throughout the 'room'. Tools here, auto items over there, sports equipment in this spot and lawn care in that. Regardless of the specifics, use this dedicated big block of time to better the space and know that moving forward, one of your 15-minute blocks can be more focused. Moving forward you can work through one small space at a time and use 15-minute blocks for more detailed steps to simplifying and sorting those smaller spaces for your personal organizing success.
