What's for Dinner?

That's the question that started it all. My personal level of full resentment moment with a side of I don't care!!! Sure, it was all the layers and loads prior to that moment that really got us there, but everyone has a line in that was mine.

After some mommy time-outs and hard conversations, the truth reviled itself. 'What's for dinner?' wasn't the real issue at play, it was the heavy load of home life. The burdens of knowing all the things all the time. The who, what, where, when and more that comes with having certain body parts and sharing a household with other people. It felt like the expectation that my brain was ping-able at any moment by other people expecting me to be the vat of knowledge when it came to all-the-things. What's for dinner just happened to be the seemingly little question that sent me from trying to needing a regroup. Maybe it's 'have you seen my keys?’, ‘where's my homework?', 'is my jersey clean?', 'get in the car! we're late!', the layers of questions, statements and expectations (others or self-placed) was just too much!

So, I took those time-outs and initiated those hard conversations and over time (and more time-outs) things started to shift. Yes, I was the reminder point and adjustments needed were plenty but one step at a time we shifted to home team lifestyle. All-those-little-things got sorted and distributed throughout the team. Meal planning and prepping was now a team effort. Making sure things were ready and/or findable became the responsibilities of the persons in need. Over time more and more shifted and yes, there are still adjustments but having the conversations is easier and overall, our lives are less stressful.

Now, I understand beyond measure that changes can seem and feel impossible, especially if you're sitting in the suck parts of life right now BUT Stay Hopeful friend. Know that you're not alone and if an organized lifestyle is a goal, I'm here to help and happy to meet you where you are so the journey isn't a solo trip.
